Design Engineer (Speed Products)

Responsibilities:

Design of hardware and software for new and existing law enforcement radar products. Occasionally will be called upon to lead small projects.


  • Research and develop core technologies required to sustain and improve speed enforcement products

  • Establish hardware/software design criteria to respond to marketing’s product requirements.

  • Collaborate with other engineering functions to design, develop, analyze and document products, which meet functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability and safety requirements.

  • Occasionally serve as a project team leader throughout the new product development process, defining schedules, organizing tasks and quantifying progress against project goals.

  • In conjunction with Manufacturing, Purchasing and Sales personnel, resolve problems relative to product design, specifications and material.

  • Stay abreast of the latest technologies and developments pertinent to the product line.

  • Develop procedures and processes that lead to positive, repeatable design results.

  • Evaluate engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements:


  • BSEE, BSEET . Entry to mid level experience in analog and digital design, hardware and software.

  • Ability to design embedded software using C and assembly language. (required)

  • Experience in microcontroller based product designs. (required)<.li>
  • In-depth troubleshooting and problem resolution skills relative to product design, specifications, and materials. (required)

  • Ability to function and contribute to a small team atmosphere as well as interact with all levels of staff
    management. (required)

  • Good oral and written communication skills. (required)

  • Knowledge of signal processing principles and DSP programming. (desirable)

  • Ability to create Windows PC software for product tests and configurations. (desirable)

  • Knowledge RF/uWave designs and principles. (desirable)
